Covid-19 Procedures (Updated August 25th, 2020)

Please note this document is fluid and will be updated as the Covid-19 situation evolves.

UPON ARRIVAL AT SUNDRE GYMNASTICS CLUB

Please do not arrive early for practice, as we will not be opening the gym before class time starts. When you arrive at Sundre Gymnastics,

Athletes and/or parent or guardian must have signed the Acknowledgement of Risk forms for Covid-19.

Only athletes will be permitted to enter the facility.

3 people at time are allowed to enter, so all other people please stay in your vehicle until the entrance is vacant. We will also have marked locations to wait to enter the building.

Inside the front door is a mandatory hand washing station.

Coaches will check the athlete’s temperature. If an athlete’s temperature is over 38°C, they will be asked to leave.

Athletes must complete a health screening checklist.

ATHLETES RESPONSIBILITY

Athletes must come to the gym in their gymnastics attire.

Athletes must answer all health checklists honestly and to the best of their knowledge

Athletes must follow social distancing and coaches instructions. If they fail to do so, they will be asked to leave immediately.

WHAT TO BRING

Bag or carry case with the following items that are applicable to your gymnasts:

Water bottle - marked with their name on it.

Sweat towel - to reduce sweaty hands rubbed on gym suit.

We do not have a common drinking area and can not let the athletes gather water from the taps. SGC coaches will encourage the athletes to wipe sweating hands on their sweat towel instead of on their suits. In addition to reducing sharing we will be offering a personal chalk container labelled with their name and left at the gym for an initial nominal cost of $5. All other chalk bowls will be removed from the gym area.

SUNDRE GYMNASTICS CLUB STAFF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. If staff are showing any sign of sickness before practice they will not enter the facility.

  2. Staff will use hand sanitizer upon entry of the gym facility.

  3. They will check and record their temperature.

  4. Staff will complete the health checklist to keep on file

  5. Staff will have disinfected the equipment prior to the gymnasts’ arrival.

  6. Staff will be watching for signs of illness throughout the practice. If any staff or athlete is showing signs of sickness they will be asked to leave ASAP.

  7. At this time, no spotting will take place; however, staff will wear a mask when it is safe to start spotting athletes.

  8. The staff will again disinfect all equipment upon completion of practice.

TRAINING AT SUNDRE GYMNASTICS CLUB

Athletes will respect social distancing as recommended by Alberta Health Services. Only one class will be in the gym training at a time. We will have only 12-16 gymnasts plus a coach per group for a maximum of 16-20 participants in the gym at a time. This could change when Alberta Health Services says it is safe to do so.

Stations will be set up to allow each gymnast to train a specific amount of time. Stations will be disinfected before athletes switch to the next station. All equipment will be disinfected after each group.

PICK UP AT SUNDRE GYMNASTICS

One gymnast at time will be asked to grab their belongings, use hand sanitizer and exit the club. A coach will be there to ensure they are being picked up by a family member or someone approved by the family. We ask that all people picking up athletes to STAY IN OR BY THEIR VEHICLE. If you need to speak to a coach we ask that you do so via email.

*Note this will be updated as the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services update the

questions and requirements.

COVID-19 Guidelines, Acknowledgement of Risk by Athlete (18 years of age and

older) or Parent/Guardian of Athlete, and Release

I understand and agree to all of the following:

â–ª Each time an athlete or their parent/guardian enters the facility, they will have their temperature

checked. If their temperature is greater than 38.0 C and/or answer YES to any of the questions within the

daily screening process, they will not be able to participate and will be asked to go home. I understand

that facilities are required to keep a record of all responses for government tracing.

â–ª Athlete will be able to access the facility at the designated entrance and exit.

â–ª Activity start and end times will be staggered to provide time for cleaning between cohorts and to allow

athletes to get in and out of the gym safely. Staff will wash their hands thoroughly and equipment and

common areas will be wiped down.

â–ª Viewing or seating areas available for observation will be closed, to discourage the concentration of

people within the facility.

â–ª If an athlete has not been picked up by the designated activity end time, staff will contact the

parent/guardian via phone and will accompany the athlete out to meet their parent/guardian while

observing the 2-3 meter physical distancing guideline.

â–ª I will support the physical distancing standard of 2 to 3 meters while at the gym.

â–ª No activities that require hands-on spotting will take place, until advised by the Government of Alberta

and Alberta Health Services due to physical distancing requirements.

â–ª Athlete will have regular opportunities to use the hand sanitizing stations available in all areas of the

facility.

â–ª Athlete will wash hands thoroughly before leaving home and while at the gym as needed.

â–ª Athlete will bring a clearly marked bag and full water bottle to the gym each day with all recommended

items included. Any items left behind will be disposed of at the end of the day.

â–ª The athlete will stay home if they or anyone in their household is coughing, has a temperature over

38C, or has flu like symptoms or other COVID-19 symptoms.

â–ª I understand and agree that these procedures will change and evolve over time and that I will follow any

new standards that are required by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and/or

SUNDRE GYMNASTICS CLUB.

â–ª If any procedure, safety protocols and new standards are not followed the athlete will be removed from

the activity and will not be allowed to participate any further. I acknowledge, understand, appreciate, and

agree that participation may result in possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases, including,

but not limited to COVID-19. While rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious

illness and death does exist. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown,

even if arising from the negligence of the releasees or others and assume full responsibility for

participation and exposure and release the facility, its employees, officers and directors from any liability

related thereto.
